Montecon, the main operator of the public areas of the Port of Montevideo, won the Maritime Award of the Americas 2016 in the category of Security Management and Port Security, granted by the Inter-American Committee on Ports (CIP), an agency of the Organization of American States (OAS).
The distinction aims to highlight practices that contribute to reducing hazards and risks, as well as detecting illicit substances, among other actions aimed at ensuring security in ports. The evaluation criterion takes into account the leadership and innovation of the practices, their sustainability, the increase of competitiveness and their efficiency.
