Montecon calls the first regional meeting of Ports Uruguay.

Safety is a priority that is put into play in our daily work and in every awareness raising action we undertake.

This first regional meeting of Ports Uruguay took place on May 12, 13 and 14 and was an instance that allowed us to deepen our understanding of a topic that has a huge impact on our routine and is a permanent focus of interest and collective responsibility. In line with this commitment, we led the first regional meeting on Occupational Safety and Health in Ports convinced that the exchange of learning, experiences and initiatives contributes to the enrichment of the network and will allow us to keep updated and in fluid contact with colleagues in the region. The program was structured in eight modules on various topics of interest to the sector that covered the three days of the meeting. The first day started with the presentations of Montecon's General Manager, Juan Olascoaga, followed by the Commercial and Operations Managers, Julio Branda and Carlos Stolzenbach, respectively, in the module called Organizational SYSO Management. In turn, other aspects of the work were developed such as the reality of the port companies, in which the participants shared both a milestone of their management and a present challenge, with the objective that the testimonies offered possible ways and alternatives to improve the practice or directly solve a concrete problem. Afterwards, the presentations on the importance of training, sensitization and awareness, and the necessary research, innovation and technology oriented to the improvement of Work Safety will take place. Two applications focused on the improvement of the welfare of Montecon ship operators and the Montecon Protocol free of alcohol and drugs were presented. Towards the end of the meeting, emphasis was placed on the analysis of practical cases in workshop mode, around three topics related to occupational hazards, each with its own working hypothesis. After a visit to the port of Montevideo and the Montecon facilities and a closing by our General Manager Juan Olascoaga who concluded this first meeting with which we hope to contribute to the consolidation of an active space for reflection and exchange in our area.
