The recent ISO 14001 Environmental Certification makes Montecon a reference in the matter within the Port of Montevideo and in the whole region.
To the strong commitment assumed with the security and health of the workers, we also add the responsibility and sustainability with the environment where the operative processes are developed. In this sense, more than two years ago, we adopted the OHSAS 18001 Safety Management Standard, which implied the adaptation to the international requirements in this matter, and the LSQA (LATU Sistemas Quality Austria) certified the fulfillment of all the requirements that made Montecon the first port operator of the public port of Montevideo to achieve this distinction. On December 26th and 27th, LSQA's auditors certified the compliance with the standards defined in this norm and we received the recognition in this aspect as well. This milestone consolidates Montecon as the company with the highest institutional quality in the Uruguayan port activity and as a reference in the matter, at a local and regional level. The strong investment in infrastructure and equipment has allowed concrete improvements, among which the mobile plant for the treatment of container washing effluents and the mobile spill containment basin, with capacity for 30, stand out.It is our objective to continue improving environmental management, in a creative way and aiming at excellence, comparing our management with that of other companies in the region and sharing best practices, in order to deepen this cycle of improvement.
HMM America Shipping Agency Inc. chose Montecon as port operator together with the agency Brings Uruguay, prioritising the level of service offered and the quality of attention to the shipowner that for more than two decades has been offered to its clients.
We have been recognised as a Great Place to Work® Certified™ Company, which represents shared pride and joy, because the vast majority of our staff have stated that Montecon is a great place to work.
