The National Customs Directorate again awarded Montecon this distinction, which ensures that the company "meets the requirements to ensure security in the logistics chain.
The DNA evaluated aspects such as legal constitution, age and compliance with regulations, financial solvency, customs and tax compliance history, as well as the administrative management and security management system in order to grant the endorsement.
This endorsement updates the commitment made by the firm in 2015, when it became the first port operator in public areas to obtain it.
"Being reliable is part of our identity and this distinction shows that we are doing things right, not only in what DNA requests but also in the challenges we set ourselves. It is a path we took three years ago looking at the long term, because the intention is to be able to maintain the certificate", explained María Inés Abreu, Montecon's Administration Manager.
The recognition meets a worldwide customs objective that seeks to mitigate risks in foreign trade chains, integrating them and seeking to make all actors reliable once the control mechanism has been passed.
In the case of Montecon, prior to the DNA audits, it carried out a contingency analysis in all its operations and services in order to identify deficiencies or weaknesses, responding later with training, simulations, implementation of new security tools and process updating, among other measures adopted to adapt to the recognition requirements.
"Montecon always positions itself as a reference in these issues and we believe that being an OEC serves as an example for others because we encourage our partners to reach this standard, making the Port of Montevideo more competitive", assessed Abreu.
HMM America Shipping Agency Inc. chose Montecon as port operator together with the agency Brings Uruguay, prioritising the level of service offered and the quality of attention to the shipowner that for more than two decades has been offered to its clients.
We have been recognised as a Great Place to Work® Certified™ Company, which represents shared pride and joy, because the vast majority of our staff have stated that Montecon is a great place to work.
Montecon launches new benefits for the export sector through measures targeting those cargoes that need cold supply and temperature control. These will start to be implemented from October 1st.
