With the aim of boosting the competitiveness of the export sector, Montecon defined a series of initiatives that seek to further enhance foreign trade and the development of the local economy. 

In this sense, the new benefit consists of reducing the value of the cold supply for export from US$ 110 to US$ 70 per container per calendar day, starting next Thursday 1 October. This amount, which will represent a 36% reduction in the value in relation to the current rate, will include energy supply, storage, monitoring and costs for early entry. 

Julio Branda, Commercial Manager of Montecon, highlighted that this decision was possible thanks to the important investment that is being made and that will conclude in September, with new platforms for refrigerated cargo to be installed in the recently concessioned area, which will allow the migration from the use of diesel to electric energy, accessing not only to a cleaner and more environmentally friendly source, but also to a reduction in the costs of energy supply.

"Montecon will continue to invest in infrastructure and equipment to improve our processes and reduce operating costs. We will continue to seek to incorporate tools and benefits through which we can continue to support and contribute to the competitiveness of our export sector and foreign trade," said Branda.

He also explained that this measure has already been communicated to the Uruguayan Exporters Union (UEU), and hoped that it would provide the sector with greater tools to access new markets and increase current export volumes. "We are once again reaffirming our commitment to the Port of Montevideo and Uruguayan foreign trade", Branda indicated.
